Fantastic stay! The room was exceptionally modern, spacious and clean. The bed was HUGE and so comfortable! It looks like it has been recently renovated (including the bathroom) so everything felt fresh and very clean. Fantastic price and you get a 10% discount at the cafe next door (which was delicious)

The staff was very nice, friendly. There was a cute little fire pit with comfy camping chairs around it and a smore making kit. The grounds were cute and cared for. Very convenient off the main road, next door to a cafe that offered great breakfast and a gas station/ well stocked convenience store across the street. The Room was very clean.

We originally booked because it said there was a trail that started right by it, and a cafe that also serves drinks. Turns out, the "trail" was only .8 miles long and the cafe is only open for dinner on the weekend. They have a cute little firepit outside tho, and the dogs were very happy with the big grassy area. Cute little place to rest our heads for the evening. ;)

Great forest walk nearby. Very friendly staff and free fire pit for making smores ! Kevin was fantastic at resolving our payment confusion ( our fault not his!) and for communicating state of forest fire impact on motel.

I absolutely loved my stay at this motel - its in a dream location and was incredible value for money. The staff were great and helped us make the most of our short stay by guiding us through the best walking routes. We finished off our day drinking beer by the fire pit.

I love that the retro/vintage style of the Hiouchi Motel is preserved, but with modern updates. It is in the thick of old growth redwoods and the drive to it and leaving was spectacular. It is right on U.S. Highway 199, about 15 minutes east of Crescent City proper. I like that it stands alone and not in a crowded motel row. The room had a typical layout but was neat, clean and well-appointed with all the basics: bathroom, refrigerator, coffee maker, etc., and had a very comfortable bed! The lawn area was large and quite charming with outdoor seating, fairy lights, an inviting firepit, an apple tree and other nice foliage, doggie poop-bags and dedicated bin for disposal. The staff were prompt to check me in and offered helpful supper suggestions as I came too late to eat at the neighboring cafe. I did enjoy a hearty breakfast there the next morning.

The cafe next door was fantastic and gives a discounted price to hotel guests. The rooms were clean and comfortable with some updated bathrooms and comfortable beds. Staff was very friendly and helpful as well. Very close proximity to some of the beautiful redwood forest trails in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. With the Grove of Titans trailhead only being about a 20 minute drive from the hotel.

This is a greaT alternative to staying in Crescent City. Nice rooms and quite place to stay. You can get breakfast at the cafe next door, they own that as well. Its a great place for breakfast. There is a gas station right across the highway as well.

There was a restaurant next door that allowed us to dine in their outdoor seating area with our dog. The hotel has an outdoor fire pit and lawn furniture. It's as close to camping as you can get and still be in a hotel.
